Kelvin Guevara

President, Cenario's Dixon

About

Step into the kitchen of Cenario's Pizza, where a family legacy of mouth-watering culinary creations has been serving Northern California since 1986.

From the aroma of freshly baked pizzas to the sizzle of their signature pastas, Cenario's Pizza has always been a haven of delectable food and warm hospitality. Yet, in an ever-evolving digital age, they noticed their online presence failed to fully convey the richness of their culinary journey.

Enter Kelvin Guevara, the forward-thinking president of the Dixon franchise. Kelvin recognized the potential to elevate Cenario's Pizza's digital presence to match the quality of their food. Together, Cenario's Pizza of Dixon and Open Omega embarked on a mission to boost online sales by translating the vibrant essence of their dining experience to the digital world, even amidst the challenging backdrop of the COVID-19 pandemic.

Research Outcomes

Our journey to understand the unique desires and preferences of Cenario's Pizza patrons led us on a comprehensive research adventure. We delved into the heart of the customer experience, holding interviews and workshops with Cenario’s loyal customers in Dixon and engaging with frequent online diners from various establishments.

To optimize efficiency in the fast-paced restaurant industry, we seamlessly integrated our research process with our Zoom meetings with the key stakeholder, Kelvin Guevara.

By grounding our decisions in data and eliminating guesswork, we make informed choices that propel our clients towards their goals.

These interviews and workshops yielded invaluable insights that shaped the trajectory of the project. Besides gaining location-specific and proprietary consumer behavior data, we also fine-tuned insights from broader restaurant industry benchmark data. For instance:

Consumers confirmed that they prefer ordering directly from the restaurant if it means their money goes to the restaurant and not a third party.

Professional food photos guaranteed an increase in sales.

Customers are more likely to visit a restaurant in person if they place online orders from the same restaurant.

User Personas

Our research led us to identify key personas that embody Cenario’s Dixon customers. By defining these personas, we were able to tailor our design, development, and strategy solutions to meet the needs of the restaurant’s customers. We classified the customer personas as follows:

Graphics and Visual Design

Key to our design philosophy in working with Cenario’s Pizza was understanding that we eat with our eyes first — With this in mind, we approached the visual and graphic design for Cenario's Pizza with a focus on creating a visually stunning online culinary experience.

New and Improved Menu Images

We enhanced the visual appeal of Cenario's menu items by optimizing over 100 menu images and creating branded assets. This not only elevated the overall brand experience but also saved time and resources that would have been spent on professional photography.

qr Menu

We enriched the in-store dining experience by creating QR-coded table tents that linked to a dedicated, digital menu page — This improved the customer experience and  provided valuable in-store customer analytics.

qr Menu

We designed QR-coded table tents that link to a dedicated QR menu page for an optimized in-store user experience. The stakeholders were also able to track analytics data from the QR-coded table tents.

Coupon Design

We designed visually compelling coupons for both digital and print use, amplifying the allure of promotions for Cenario's Pizza. These coupons were prominently displayed in-store, online, and on printed flyers, enticing more customers to take advantage of special offers.

Digital Menu

At the request of the stakeholder, we redesigned the digital menu while preserving the aesthetic of the original. The revamped menu strikes a balance using best design principles, enhancing the in-store customer experience by facilitating quick menu navigation and reducing visual fatigue.
